Rated 5 out of 5 by from Puts a smoke ring on your meat! I bought this because I love the taste and smell of hickory. But the smoke ring was the cherry on top! A really great product. I plan to buy a few bags to smoke my meats and then regular briquettes to finish off. I hope for Cherry and Post Oak products in the near future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from thanksgiving turkey disappointment I bought a bag of this because I like the taste of hickory smoked meats. I lit the charcoal and waited until they got white then added my turkey. I after 30 min to 1 hour I noticed the temp wouldn't get over 175 deg. I kept adding and adding charcoal until I had used the entire 14.6 pound the I had just bought the day before. so I added some wood that I had around and the temp started going up within 15 min. so im guessing that this charcoal got moisture in it somewhere along the line before I bought it. I have always tried to stay with Kingford but after this disappointment I might have to try other brands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My first disappointment I have never bought any other brand if charcoal than kingsford, which is why i was so disappointed in the bag of hickory i bought recently. The bag touts how fast the charcoal is ready and how hot it is. Nothing could be further from the truth in my experience. It always had to be started at least twice, often three times.tonight for example it took 40 minutes to cook 2 thin hanburgers. Very disappointed.

Finger lickin good all the time. Grill time is not a problem no matter how long I grill. This is a top tool for the expert and novice.

My local store had your hickory brand on sale a few weeks ago. every time i went barbeque , i could not keep the coals lit for at least 15 minutes.i thought that maybe since it was getting damp in Chicago that may have been the problem.I went back to regular kingsford and i was very satisfied.Kinda screwed up my BBQ plans for a few weeks.

Well we mix this with the original Kingsford Charcoal and what a difference, everything has such a great Hickory flavor, we have had steaks and burgers. Keep up the great work with different products.

There is a problem though...WALMART and COSTCO do not sell it...I'm out as of today so I am grilling with the Original charcoal. I use the Kingsford lighter fluid for its reliability to start and the absence of a fuel taste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from knotts the store i went to was out of the original charcoal. we were about to grill so i had to come home with some type of charcoal so i grabed this one and was not to sure about it. we were grilling several different meats that night and i would like to say that this is now one of my favorite kingford charcoals. i did not know that they had so may different types and i would like to try more of them. the results of the meat were mouth watering. it gave it a wonderful hickory flavor with out all the work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flavor and logevity, a great twin set! I use a charcoal chimney, lighter cubes, and a blow torch to light up my charcoal. This stuff burns a hot bright orange for a good long time. I can sear steaks with it to seal in the juices, then give them a good hickory smoking with the lid on, but not for too long, since I like them a good shade of medium rare. Sometimes I add a few more hickory chips to really get it to permeate the meat, but the hickory charcoal is usually enough to stand alone. I also have used it to cook chicken, which takes a long, long time to cook. With a little stoking, these coals last a very long time and can cook it through well. I continually re-use the old coals and just add new ones to top off the chimney. In the long run, using the good charcoal from Kingsford actually saves money. My advice to anyone who uses charcoal is to use a charcoal chimney with whatever method you want to use to light it, just don't ruin it with lighter fluid. Removing the fluid from the equation has made my grilling experience just that much better. MAPP gas and lighter cubes are the way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the hickory flavor! I use the Kingsford charcoal with hickory for steaks, porkchops and chicken most of the time. When I can get the meat I also use it for cooking venisen roasts in the smoker. Love the flavor it imparts to the meat! It is always easy to start and stays lit no matter how long I need to slow cook some large cuts of meat.
