We found the hickory charcoal by chance and now we are both hooked. There is no restaraunt that has a better steak than those we cook at home over the smoky hickory coals of Kingsford Charcoal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the job done! I mistakenly purchased this charcoal in September 2010 (thought I'd picked up a regular bag). After a recent fishing trip, I found the unopened bag in the back of the garage and figured I'd try it my smoker to smoke some fresh-caught trout. The coals fired up well and burned consistently and produced just the right amount of smoke without any overheating issues. The coals imparted just the right amount of flavor. Honestly, I was amazed at how well this product worked in my economy Brinkmann smoker. I might try other charcoal products, like the Kingsford mesquite, but it will take a lot to get me to switch to another brand or go back to regular charcoal with wood chips. Thanks Kingsford for a great product that works much better than expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bruce the Shark Greenville, NC, Middle of March, high today of 78 and just finished cooking up three whole chickens for the family in the Big Green Egg. Threw in some hickory chips and kept the temp around 275 and the birds came out golden brown, juicy, with a hint of hickory throughout the birds. Just some advice to many new grillers, don't use lighter fluid when lighting, use a chimminy starter and add coals as you cook if necessary. Avoid gas grills if posible. Great start to the summer of 2011 from Greenville, NC. Kettle grills and hot coals are great for /steaming cooking oysters in the shell.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kingsford Charcoal with Hickory Been using this product in my WSM smoker since last July when a teammate on our competition BBQ circuit gave me some to try. At first I thought it smoked too much in the chimney, but then it settles down and gives me a long slow burn and imparts a wonderful flavor to ribs and pork butts. Sometimes I mix it half and half with Original Charcoal, especially if I'm using cherry wood to flavor. Great product, and would highly recommend giving it a try.
